ASCA Rally and Community Fair June 2011
Today’s ASCA Rally trial took place at La Habra’s Sonora High School, in conjunction with the school’s community fair. It was a fun event, with a classic car show, livestock show, petting zoo, music, food stalls and vendors. What fun!
Luckily the light rain we had slowed down to a minimal drizzle when we arrived, and later on it stopped entirely and the sun came out.
I wasn’t thrilled with the classic car people revving their engines, but luckily by the time we went into the ring, they toned it down quite a bit. Doing the course walk-through to music was lots of fun though!
Since Quigley and I earned our ASCA RN already, we were showing in the C division today, with the goal of working on our RN-X title (3 scores of 195 or better under 2 different judges) and RN-C title (5 scores of 190 or better under 3 different judges). These may be earned concurrently.
We had two fantastic runs today, with only one 3-point deduction for a station retry in the first trial and 3 one-point deductions for crooked fronts and sits in the second one. I’m beyond thrilled that we had no tight leashes and no deduction-worthy forging.
There are plenty of ASCA trials coming up this summer, so hopefully we’ll be able to finish up this Novice business and move on to Advanced after mid of August.
Scoreboard:
Trial 1: Novice C, 197 points, first RN-X leg, first RN-C leg
Trial 2: Novice C, 197 points, second RN-X leg, second RN-C leg
I’m not taking credit for the first place each time, as we were the only team in the C division. 😉
