Saturday, 12\/16\/2006<\/strong><\/p>\n

The good news first: with a score of 190 we got our second leg towards Quigley’s L1 title.<\/p>\n

The bad news:
\nIt was quite cold and windy and at some point Quigley decided he isn’t interested in anything anymore but sniffing the ground, so during the second trial I excused us from the ring after about a third of the exercises, since I was not able to get any cooperation at all from my butthead terrier. If you had seen this, you’d have thought he had never been to an obedience class in his life.<\/p>\n

We’ll have two more trials tomorrow, so hopefully at least one of them will get us another Q.<\/p>\n

Meh, no cause to celebrate today.<\/p>\n

In the morning the grass was wet, so Mr. Picky decided he won’t do a down and in the afternoon trial he was just too sloppy to make a qualifying score. That was especially disappointing, since it was a really simple course.<\/p>\n

I’ve noticed though that he did really well as long as we were warming up outside the ring, but once it counted, he appeared to be a completely different dog. I wonder if it’s me and I’m sending distracting “nervous vibes” or something.<\/p>\n

The weather was absolutely beautiful. I left at 6.07 am, so not quite as early as we did the day before. The sunrise lit up the mountains in a bright pink glow and there were just enough little white clouds to make it even prettier. Up at Mussel Shoals the high tide made the waves splash really high up against the wall, some of the spray even got all the way up into the south-bound lane of the 101. It looked wild! I just love that drive!<\/p>\n

We got to Goleta at 7. 30 am and there was still a little frost on the grass, but by the time the second trial took place, everything was dry. I was wearing a long-sleeve t-shirt under a hoodie and had brought my heaviest jacket, but left that in the car right away.
