RAE Leg #3
More success today!
We had some fits and starts in Excellent, including some bounciness and (again) a not-so-great honor sit, but we qualified with 83 points. I really need to work on that sit, that’s the second time we got 10 points off because Quigley can’t sit still on-leash for what, 2 minutes?
Advanced was much better, we re-did one exercise and ended up with a 97, to my total and utter surprise. After making sure I had qualified, I didn’t go back to look at scores before the ribbons were handed out, so I was in total shock when the judge said “first place goes to dog and handler team #311” and nobody stepped forward. I had to double check my armband number.
This was totally unexpected, there were a number of really experienced people with typical obedience breeds more known for precision than the Terrierhead, and two teams earned their RAE title today.
I just wish I had gotten a better angle for that picture. The other side had a grassy area (where the rings were) and it would have looked nicer. All the roses were beautiful though!
